Assembly
ArkuEdge 1.6mm Assembly Instructions
Clean Joins. Fast Assembly. No Welding Required.
Each 1.6mm ArkuEdge length is supplied with a connector plate for quick, secure joining with a professional finish.
Joining Edging Lengths
1. Position the Joiner Plate
Place the joiner plate behind the two edging lengths, ensuring both pieces sit flush along the seam.
2. Clamp Securely
Use wide-brim vice grips to hold the sections firmly together for a solid, stable connection.
3. Drill Pilot Holes
With the supplied #30 drill bit, drill through both layers approximately 15mm in from the seam.
Rivet Guide:
- 80–280mm high edging: One hole at the top and one at the bottom.
- 380–580mm high edging: In addition to top and bottom, add horizontal rivets approx. every 100mm along the seam.
4. Install Rivets
Load the rivet gun with a supplied rivet, insert into each hole, and fasten until the rivet pops. Repeat for all pilot holes.
5. Remove Clamps
Once all rivets are in place, remove the vice grips. Your edging is now securely joined and ready for installation.
Installing Stakes
To ensure stability, we recommend a minimum of 3 stakes per 2.0m length:
- One stake 100mm in from each end
- One stake in the middle
Installation Steps:
- Position the stake flush behind the edging.
- Clamp tightly with vice grips.
- Drill pilot holes through both stake and edging (follow same guide as above).
- Insert rivets and fasten securely.
What’s Included:
- Connector Plates (1 per join)

How long are the edging lengths?
All ArkuEdge lengths are standard 2 metres. If you require a custom size, contact us directly — we’re happy to fabricate to suit your project.
I’ve received my steel – it doesn’t look rusted.
This is a common misunderstanding. Corten steel arrives in a silver-grey tone and may appear similar to galvanised or ZAM-coated steel at first glance.
Why doesn’t my Corten steel arrive pre-rusted?
Corten is designed to rust naturally over time. Expect a gradual patina to develop over several weeks to a few months, depending on local weather conditions.
- More rain = faster rusting
- More sun = slower rusting
- To speed up the process:
Spray with vinegar and water (50/50 mix) to strip the oily residue and kick-start oxidation. Hose it down regularly for faster results.
Where does ArkuEdge get its strength from when installed?
ArkuEdge is engineered differently — built for both flexibility and toughness without the bulky weight.
Here’s what sets it apart:
-
Rolled Top Lip
Fabricated right here in our Fyshwick workshop, the precision-rolled top edge adds structural strength while keeping the profile clean and user-friendly. -
Smart Stake & Joiner System
Designed as a complete system, not an afterthought. Our stakes and connectors lock each length into place for a rock-solid finish — no bowing, no shifting. -
Set It Right, and It Stays Right
Our recommended install method — burying ⅓ of the height into the ground — locks the edging in firmly, distributing pressure evenly across curves, slopes, and flat runs.
This clever combo means ArkuEdge doesn’t need to be thick and heavy to be strong. It’s easier to shape, faster to install, and tough enough to last — because strength should be smart, not stubborn.
Do I need special tools to install ArkuEdge?
No specialist tools required — most of what you need is probably already in your shed or ute. Here’s what we recommend for a smooth, professional install:
- Rubber Mallet – Tap edging into place without damaging the finish
- Drill
- Tape Measure – For accurate spacing and layout
- Rivet Gun – Used to secure stakes and joiners in place
- Wide-Brimmed Vice Grip – Helps hold components steady while fixing
- String Line / Chalk / Marking Paint – Essential for planning straight runs and curves
- Angle Grinder – For trimming lengths on-site (always wear eye protection)
- Spade, Pick Axe, or Hand Mattock – Loosen compacted soil before installation so the edging beds in securely. Well-prepped ground also promotes better plant health around the borders.
- Safety Gear – Gloves, protective eyewear, and any PPE suited to the tools you're using are strongly advised.
