Key Features
1. Low Maintenance, Long-Term Performance
Arkus planters are crafted from Corten weathering steel, which forms a natural protective patina over time—eliminating the need for painting or sealing. Even after surface wear, the steel self-heals to maintain durability and appearance. The smooth surface resists dirt build-up, making cleaning effortless and upkeep minimal.
2. Sustainable by Nature
Made in Australia from long-lasting 1.6mm and 3.0mm Corten steel, Arkus planters are a sustainable choice designed to reduce environmental impact. Their long lifespan means fewer replacements and less material waste over time. No chemical coatings or synthetic treatments are used—just raw, recyclable steel that supports a low-waste garden system.
3. Flat-Packed with Minimal Waste
Each planter is supplied in parts for efficient transport and reduced packaging waste. Assembly is straightforward using the included hardware, allowing you to get set up with minimal tools and effort. The design reduces shipping volume and resource consumption without compromising strength or style.
4. Versatile, Modular Design
With a clean, circular triple-tier structure, Arkus planters are designed to suit everything from small balconies to large-scale landscape projects. Ideal for growing herbs, vegetables, flowers, or succulents, they’re a flexible foundation for building your own productive or decorative garden space—wherever you are.

Assembly
Step 1: Site Preparation
- Choose a flat, level surface to assemble your planter for best results.
- If installing on a slope, level the base area before placing the planter and backfill afterward to secure it.
- Loosen the soil with a spade or mattock to create a stable foundation and encourage healthy plant roots.
Step 2: Identify and Layout Rings
Your planter includes three rings of varying heights:
- Back ring (tallest) — main structural support
- Second ring (second tallest) — has two return tabs that attach to the back ring
- Third ring (shortest) — attaches to both the back and second rings
Lay out the rings in their approximate final positions on your level surface.
Step 3: Assemble the Rings
- Position the front rings near the back ring.
- Drill holes through the return tabs of each ring using the supplied #11 drill bit.
- Mark corresponding holes on adjoining rings by holding the return tab flush and marking through the drilled holes with a pen.
- Drill matching holes in the adjoining ring sections.
- Secure with rivets, starting with the top and bottom rivets, then evenly spacing additional rivets every 100mm along the tabs for rings over 380mm diameter.
- Repeat for all ring connections, including attaching the shortest ring to both the back and second rings.
Step 4: Position and Finalize Installation
- Place the assembled planter in its final location.
- Backfill around the base if installed on uneven or sloped ground to stabilize the structure.
Step 5: Optimize Drainage
- Before adding soil, add a layer of small stones or gravel to the planter’s base.
- This promotes effective drainage and aeration, preventing waterlogging and encouraging healthy root growth.
Step 6: Patina Formation and Maintenance
Arkus planters are made from Corten weathering steel, which naturally develops a protective rust patina that shields the metal from corrosion. This process begins within weeks and fully develops over 6 months to 2 years, depending on moisture exposure.
Important: Do not use strong acids or salts to accelerate rusting, as these damage the steel’s protective layer.
During patina development, rust-colored runoff may stain porous surfaces like stone or concrete. To manage this:
- Rinse runoff promptly from nearby surfaces.
- Regularly hose down affected areas to prevent buildup.
- Mist the planter lightly with water to encourage even patina formation.
- For stubborn stains, clean with a mild 10% white vinegar solution before rinsing.
Additional Tips for a Smooth Assembly
- Use a vice grip to steady rings while drilling and riveting.
- Ensure all tabs and rings are flush before riveting to guarantee a tight fit.
- Always wear gloves and protective eyewear during assembly for safety.
